6 Nov 15

Priorslee Lake: 06:13 – 09:39

Telford sunrise: 07:15

11.5°C > 12.5°C. Broken below high overcast, filling in with rain after 09:30. Moderate SSW wing. Good visibility

At last: some visibility. However it was a very dark morning

(136th visit of the year)

Notes
- a 1st winter cygnet appeared briefly and was duly chased off by the resident cob
- all the geese were seen ‘inbound’ (towards The Flash): the Canada Geese at the early time of 07:10
- at least 27 of the Tufted Duck had flown off W towards The Flash by the time I left
- more large gulls than recently: one group of at least 122 birds seemed to be climbing out of the Bayliss Pools area to the SE
- more Wood Pigeons than usual flying W but only 12 of these were flying high enough for me to classify them as migrants
- usual party of c.300 Jackdaws over at 07:05. Small numbers later with >40 after 08:45
- just 2 Starlings over and apparently none from roosts around the lake
- Cetti’s Warbler vocal throughout
- one Song Thrush in song very briefly
- reasonable passage of Fieldfare and Redwings, initially SW but later SE. 11 Redwings seen leaving the trees around the lake
- the only Meadow Pipit of the day had apparently roosted and was flushed from the SW grass
- at least 19 Goldfinches
And
- no moths on the lamps
- no different flower noted
