Priorslee Lake: 07:25 – 09:05

6°C: Low overcast and very misty to start: then some drizzle. Calm / light SE wind. Poor visibility, bad initially

Sunrise: 08:11 GMT

(13th visit of the year)

No new species for my 2017 Priorslee Lake list

Notes from today:
another very quiet morning
- perhaps the same 2 Greylag Geese managed to find their way through the mist and fly over
- 2 pairs of Mallard flushed from out of the Wesley Brook: looking for a nesting site already?
- managed a decent count of Jackdaws despite the poor visibility. Most of the large groups passed very low just behind Castle Farm Way while I happened to be on the dam: thereafter the smaller groups were higher and overhead
- Willow Tit heard in song again
- 6 singing Song Thrushes this morning
- strangely, and for the first time I can remember, I logged no Dunnocks!
and
- male Mottled Umber on the lamps

Birds noted flying over the lake
- 2 Greylag Geese
- 9 Black-headed Gulls
- 2 Herring Gulls
- c.300 Jackdaws
- 1 Rook
- 3 Pied Wagtails
- 2 Greenfinches
- 1 Goldfinch
- 1 Siskin
- 2 Linnets

Roost counts
- (Magpies roost mainly hidden in the mist)
- 3 Redwing came out of the roost area, but perhaps rather too late to be counted as roosting?
