Priorslee Lake and The Flash

A very quiet morning

Priorslee Lake:  07:00 – 09:30

(19th visit of the year)

Bird notes
- the gang of 10 geese flew over at 07:45. 92 more geese seen outbound in the distance – too far away to hear or visually ID
- the first 50 Black-headed Gulls flew straight in to sit on the water at 07:15: at least 700 by 07:30
- 34 Magpies flew out of the roost together, all flying NE/E/SE. Birds leaving to the W were not seen (and neither were they on the football field later)
- another low count of Jackdaws

- 3 Greylag Geese [outbound]
- 7 Canada Geese [outbound]
- 92 unidentified geese [7 groups outbound]
- 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull
- 5 Wood Pigeons only
- 20 Jackdaws only

Birds recorded leaving roosts around the lake
- >34 Magpies (incomplete count)
- 1 Reed Bunting again

The counts from the lake area:
- 2 Mute Swans
- 8 (4♂) Gadwall again
- 8 (5♂) Mallard
- 7 (4♂) Pochard
- 24 (14♂) Tufted Ducks
- 1 Little Grebe
- 2 Great Crested Grebes
- 1 Water Rail
- 10 Moorhens again
- 62 Coots
- >700 Black-headed Gulls
- 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull

Nothing on the lamp poles or seen elsewhere apart from
- 1 Grey Squirrel

- the Ring-necked Parakeet noisy but sedentary today
