Priorslee Lake and The Flash

12.0°C > 16.0°C: Increasing high cloud after clear start. Light /Moderate S wind. Very good visibility.

Sunrise: 05:57 BST

A week away produced some more of the summer visitors

At the lake I added Garden Warbler, (Common) Whitethroat, Reed Warbler, all singing. My site year total moves to 80

At The Flash I added a fly-over Oystercatcher and a singing Sedge Warbler, probably just on passage. The Sedge Warbler is, according to my records, new for me at this site. My site year total moves to 55

Priorslee Lake: 05:40 – 07:25

(47th visit of the year)

Notes from today:
- the 4 cygnets seem to have gone: the pairs in the NW and NE area are sitting; the pair in the SE show no sign of building a nest
- the 2 Great Crested Grebes seemed to the ‘extra’ two birds from 10 days ago: the residents perhaps in the reeds at their nest
- low number of Coots: probably more also sitting on eggs
- the 2 Black-headed Gulls, both adults, flew straight through together: rather unusual here at this date
- Willow Warblers all apparently moved on
and
- a still unidentified ichneumon on the lamps
- unidentified caterpillar crawling across Teece Drive
- first flowers of Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa) noted
- a few flowers of Wild Cherry (Prunus avium)
