The chill breeze was keeping the water open despite sub-zero temperatures last night

Bird notes
- still cannot be 100% sure but there does not seem to be a 3rd duck Gadwall
- drake Shoveler new in – the bird from The Flash taking refuge perhaps
- confirmed 4 Little Grebes
and
- I don’t normally report mole-hills as they are an almost daily occurrence somewhere around the edges. However it was noteworthy that despite the ground seeming to be frozen hard there were new hills poking up along the S side. Moles must be strong

A record shot of the Shoveler: note with the wing held up we can see the green speculum. This is normally only visible in flight when it is the blue forewing that tends to catch the eye.

Always happy to get photos of Bullfinches. Not sure what is causing the white streak in front of / under the eye of this male.

Here is its mate eating buds as usual.

Seems to be having some difficulty with the wind!
